Kozhukatta


Ingredients:

Rice broken 2 1/2 cup
Refined oil 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds 1/2 tbsp
Dry red chilli 1
Bengal gram 2 tbsp
Asafoetida(hing) a pinch
Jeera (cumin) seed a pinch
Salt to taste.
Coconut grated 3 tbsp

Preparation method

1)Heat oil in a pan;Saute the mustard seeds until they start crackling;Add dry red chilli. Add bengal gram and saute till the gram turns golden brown.
2)Add rice,asafoetida ,salt and just enough water to cover the rice .Cook for 10 mins.
3 )Add coconut jeera and mix well.Remove aside and keep it to cool.
4 )Divide the mixture equally into balls and steam for 15 minutes in a steamer.Repeat till the mixture is used up.
5) Serve hot.
